Squint & Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship
Job Summary:
The Fellowship in Squint & Pediatric Ophthalmology at Eye Mantra offers specialized training in managing and treating pediatric eye disorders, including strabismus (squint), amblyopia, and other common ocular conditions in children. This program is designed to provide both clinical and surgical training, equipping fellows with the necessary expertise to deliver optimal eye care to pediatric patients.
Program Details:
OPD & Procedures:
- Intensive training in the diagnosis and management of pediatric eye conditions.
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and procedures such as Visual Acuity Testing, Cycloplegic Refraction, Retinoscopy, and Strabismus Testing.
- Exposure to advanced imaging techniques such as fundus photography and OCT in children.
- Regular rotations in pediatric OPDs with opportunities to independently manage pediatric cases under mentorship.
- Experience with common pediatric conditions, including amblyopia, refractive errors, squint (strabismus), congenital cataracts, and ocular trauma.
Program Structure:
First 3 Months: Induction Phase
- Introduction to the fundamentals of pediatric ophthalmology and squint management.
- Exposure to basic diagnostic tests used for pediatric patients, including visual acuity testing, refractive error assessment, and strabismus evaluation.
- Training in managing conditions like amblyopia, refractive errors, and strabismus in children and infants.
- Case discussions and mentorship in pediatric ocular diseases, with a focus on early detection and intervention.
Next 3 Months: Advanced Clinical & Surgical Training
- In-depth exposure to advanced management techniques for squint, including both non-surgical and surgical approaches.
- Hands-on experience with surgical correction of strabismus, such as squint surgeries, botulinum toxin injections, and adjustable suture techniques.
- Management of congenital cataracts and pediatric glaucoma.
- Experience in handling pediatric ocular emergencies and complex cases in children.
- Surgical and non-surgical management of refractive errors and amblyopia in children.
- Participation in pediatric visual rehabilitation and family counseling regarding treatment plans.
